International Women’s Day – Highlighting Our Female Leaders

To celebrate and honor our team this International Women's Day, we want to showcase just a few of our many strong female leaders. Take a look at what they have to say:

Patricia Carsello Gray
Chief Operations Officer

Who are your female role models and why?
Early in my career I was fortunate to have a female mentor who demonstrated the value of careful and thoughtful leadership in the business world. Karen was my first true mentor and she was unafraid in a business environment dominated by men. She was a level headed lady who made herself invaluable through hard work and high integrity. There are many inspiring female public figures but Michelle Obama stands out to me as a remarkable example to live by. She is talented and successful in her own right and leads with integrity and compassion.

What kept you motivated this past year?
I am inspired by the people around me facing great adversity and rising above it. Resiliency is a choice and I am honored to work with a team of dedicated and committed individuals who worked together to overcome the challenges presented with the pandemic this past year.

What would you say to yourself at the start of your career if you could go back in time?
One of the most important things I would go back in time and tell myself at the beginning of my career is to always embrace change. Change can be difficult, and as humans we often have a tendency to try to control our every outcome. It's important to remain goal-oriented, but it's also important to accept that not everything will work out exactly as we planned. In both my personal and professional life, learning to adapt to any situation has been crucial.

What kept you motivated this past year?
The past year with COVID-19 has completely changed both my professional and personal life, it has definitely been a big adjustment. The primary way I have kept myself motivated is by goal setting. Setting goals gives me something to constantly work towards and have something to look forward to. Once I achieve the goal, it's a very rewarding feeling that helps to keep me motivated.

What would you say to yourself at the start of your career if you could go back in time?
I would tell myself that a job and a workplace you enjoy is one of the most important factors to not only a successful career, but also a happy self. If you are spending 40+ hours a week doing something you don't like, it will start negatively affecting you. Not only physically and mentally, but it could also hurt your lifestyle and relationships. At the of the day, the most important person is yourself, and a successful you, will bring prosperity in different aspects of your life.

What makes you feel fearless?
I don't like living with regrets, so I try my best to avoid having them. I don't think this makes me feel "fearless," but it does encourage me to do what I feel is right.

Who are your female role models and why?
My Mother, Kathy Sirin is my Role model. She inspires me daily and encourages me to grow in all aspects of my life. She never put limitations on me or steered me to be someone I am not. She will do anything for her family and always taught me to be truthful and kind. She is one of the most important people in my life and I aspire to be like her every day.

What would you say to yourself at the start of your career if you could go back in time?
Never settle for anything less than what you deserve.

What kept you motivated this past year?
My family. 2020 was rough for everyone, and my family has truly been my source of strength and motivation. From my dad's head-on battle with cancer, to my mom's strength and agility during that terrifying time, to my husband's support and protective-nature in always being a cheerleader and stable force, and my kid's resounding spirit through so many difficult circumstances that children should not have to go through, I had no other choice than to be positive, agile, and make the absolute best of each and every day.

Who are your female role models and why?
Professionally, I have admired Patti Gray, our fearless COO, who has always shown compassion and composure in her role. Personally, I look up to my mom and grandmothers, for teaching me how to navigate through life's ups and downs with humility and grace.

Mother Teresa for dedicating her life to caring for the poor and needy. Malala Yousifazi for her bravery and courage Several at MG – Patti Gray for her calmness and poise! Hanna Gleiberman for her forthrightness, bravery and generosity! Melise Balastrieri for her enthusiasm and empathy!

What kept you motivated this past year?

Who are your female role models and why?
My daughter, Chloe is my biggest role model. I was raised in a very hectic environment and my daughter came into my life when I didn't know that I needed her. She challenges me to be my best self every day and now she is growing up to be a woman that I really admire. In my career I have been blessed to work with many women who have guided me towards a path of success, so at this time in my career I really look to both Michelle Pellegrino and Idalith Santiago as examples of how I would like to grow within MG.

What kept you motivated this past year?
This past year I really dedicated my free time to self-care and getting to know my "old self". The self that you sometimes forget as you age. Finding fun in everything that I do, laughing freely, and of course my family. Motivation is very internal, it starts and ends with the soul.
